The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections results are scheduled to be announced today, the 4th of December.

The counting of votes started at 8:00 A.M., at 30 different locations.

After massive campaigning and war of words during roadshows and rallies in the GHMC limits, all the political parties are eying victory.

However, the tough war is between the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) which contested for 149 wards each.

Ahead of the GHMC election results, K. Kavitha, a leader of the TRS and daughter of J. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana expressed confidence of victory.

Ms. Kavitha said, “Exit polls are indicating that (the) TRS will be the largest party. I believe that (the) TRS party will win more seats than exit polls showed. The big leaders of (the) BJP had come to campaign here and I don’t think people of Hyderabad have even listened to them. We trust and hope we get more than 100 seats. The development which happened in the last 6 years, I feel people are happy and have voted for (the) TRS.”

Meanwhile, the BJP was happy with their grand campaigning strategy and expects to secure more seats and win the GHMC elections.

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister and a senior Central leader of the BJP, who campaigned for the Party said is confident of BJP’s win.

Mr. Shah said, “We have already taken the position of the main opposition in the State, and in the next election, (the) BJP will surely form the Government. For this, we not only have the support of our workers, and our people but also KCR. The way he is running the Government, the citizens will swiftly move towards choosing (the) BJP.”

Besides the BJP and the TRS, the Indian National Congress, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) and the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) also contested the GHMC elections.

The results are likely to be released by evening of the 4th of December and the counting of votes are underway.
