The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections results would be declared today, the 4th of December.

A total of 150 wards of the GHMC limits contested for the Municipal Corporation elections in Hyderabad.

Major political parties which contested the elections, held on the 1st of December were the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the Indian National Congress (INC) and the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM.)

As many as 8,152 personnel would be involved in the counting of votes, which began at 8:00 A.M., on the 4th of December.

The counting of votes would take place in 30 locations and for every round 14,000 votes would be counted.

A total of 150 halls have been set up and each hall has 14 tables and 31 observers to monitor the counting of votes.

Surveillance cameras are also set up at each table to ensure transparency during the counting of votes.

First, postal ballots would be counted followed by ballot paper votes.

According to sources, a total of 34,50,331 votes were polled in all the 150 wards of the GHMC limits.

Strong rooms in which the ballot papers are stored will be opened at around 7:45 AM in the presence of contesting candidates and their agents. Only authorized personnel for whom the identity cards are issued by the Returning Officer would be allowed into the counting halls.

The State Election Commissioner (SEC) Mr. Partha Sarathi said the counting would be done by following all Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 guidelines.
