The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections concluded in Hyderabad, Telangana.

After the re polling of the Old Malakpet division, the Hyderabad Commissioner of Police (CP) Anjani Kumar banned victory rallies in the GHMC limits.

The decision was taken in the wake of the counting day of the GHMC votes scheduled on the 4th of December.

While the elections of the 150 GHMC divisions were held on the 1st of December, the results would be announced on the 4th of December.

On the 3rd of December, the Hyderabad CP addressed the media and said there would be no victory rallies in the City for the next 48 hours.

Speaking about the counting of votes arrangements, Anjani Kumar said, there would be 15 counting centres in the GHMC limits.

Mr. Kumar said, “Security has been deployed at the counting centres and no permission is accorded to enter 200-metre limits from the counting centres.”

Anjani Kumar further said, only the people with passes would be allowed to enter into the counting centre.

Meanwhile, on the 2nd of December, a day after the GHMC elections, the Telangana Health Department urged all the campaigners and political leaders to isolate themselves. The decision was taken in the wake of the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus.

The major parties which were in the fray for the GHMC elections include: the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the Indian National Congress (INC) and the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM.)
