The Telangana Government on the 18th of May, announced to restore normal healthcare services for non COVID-19 patients in all government hospitals.
The outpatient services and elective surgeries got underway in all State run hospitals across Telangana amid the lockdown 4.0, maintaining social distancing.
Apart from outpatient services, general hospitals like Osmania General Hospital (OGH) and district hospitals are also organising special fever clinics to identify people with Influenza like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) cases.
The outpatient wing at Fever Hospital received nearly 400 patients while another 600 visited the outpatient wing at OGH. The patient flow is expected to rise in the coming days, as transport facilities become available after restrictions are eased.
Gandhi Hospital and Chest Hospital, Erragadda, are the nodal centres for providing treatment facilities to SARS-CoV-2 suspected and positive patients. As a result, the outpatient facilities and elective surgeries at both these hospitals are not available for non-Covid patients. A part of SD Eye Hospital, Mehdipatnam, is also being utilised as quarantine facility for suspected Novel coronavirus cases.
Meanwhile, Telangana reported a total of 1,551 cases of the Novel Cornavirus with 34 fatalities.
