After the announcement of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) candidate for Huzurabad by poll, the candidates’ announcement of the opposition parties are awaited.
While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to nominate the strongest, Eatala Rajender as its MLA candidate, the Indian National Congress (INC) is thinking to name Ms. Konda Surekha. All the major parties in the fray for the Huzurabad MLA seat are targeting the 50 % of the voters, who belong to the Backward Class (BC) communities. The Huzurabad Assembly constituency has a total of 2.26 lakh voters, of which close to 1.20 lakh voters belong to the BC community.
In order to gain vote banks of the BC communities, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led TRS Government also named Mr. Gellu Srinivas Yadav. The President of the TRS Student’s Wing Association who also belongs to the BC community as the TRS candidate.
Considering the same, the BJP is almost set to name Eatala Rajender, who belongs to the Mudiraj community of the BC. Similarly, now the INC is also planning to name Konda Surekha, who also has a stronghold in some of the regions of the Huzurabad Assembly constituency.
However, an official announcement regarding the MLA candidates of the BJP and the INC contesting the Huzurabad by election is awaited.
The Huzurabad MLA seat fell vacant after the former MLA of Huzurabad Eatala Rajender resigned. After being moved from the Health Minister post, Eatala Rajender quit the TRS and resigned as the Huzurabad MLA. He also joined the opposition BJP and is now going to fight against the TRS.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to announce the official notification regarding the conduct of the Huzurabad Assembly election sometime soon.
