A woman residing in Warangal Rural district of Telangana has been given an opportunity to interact with the Prime Minister of India.

Ms. Nazima, a resident of Itikala Palli region and a member of the Women Self Help Group (SHG) in Telangana, interacted with Mr. Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister. She has been selected under the Atmanirbhar Narishakti se Samvad programme.

According to sources, under this initiative Mr Modi would talk to a member of the women SHG promoted under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana (National Rural Livelihoods Mission.) The district project manager Mr. Dayakar said, “Ms. Nazima has been selected from Telangana to participate in the event on the management of thrift associations in rural areas and the development of women through it.”

Besides Ms. Nazia of Telangana, several other SHG members got an opportunity to be a part of today’s interactive event. During the event, Mr. Narendra Modi said, “The Government is constantly creating an environment in which all of you sisters can connect our villages with prosperity.” He said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government worked hard and would work to ensure progress and development of women in India.

The interaction between Mr. Modi and SHG members was held through a video conference. During the meeting, he spoke and discussed the development of SHGs for women and announced a few welfare incentives and schemes. He highlighted the work done under the BJP Government to enhance the SHGs in India for the growth of Indian sisters and daughters. He also said, as of now India has close to 70 lakh SHGs connecting crores of women, who are financially independent and moving forward with a progressive lifestyle.

During the event, the PM of India released an amount of Rs. 25 crores as seed money for 7,500 SHG members under the PMFME (PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises) Scheme of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and Rs 4.13 crores as funds to 75 FPOs (Farmer Producer Organizations.)

In addition, he also released capital financial assistance funds of Rs. 1,625 crores to 4 lakh SHGs in India.

Lastly, during today’s interactive event, the Prime Minister released a handbook on the universalisation of farm livelihoods.
