Hyderabad is one of the top cities in terms of surveillance in the world.
According to a United Kingdom (U.K.,) based research firm Comparitech, Hyderabad ranked 16th on the list of top 20 cities with maximum number of CCTV cameras for surveillance.
Hyderabad is also the only Indian city in the list of 20 cities.
According to the list, Hyderabad has three lakh CCTV cameras for one crore people, which is 29.99 cameras for 1,000 people in the City.
Meanwhile, with 119.57 cameras for 1,000 people, Taiyuan number one position ,followed by Wuxi with 92.14 cameras for 1,000 people at second position. London has 6,27,727 cameras for a population of over 93 lakh or 67.47 cameras per 1,000 people.
The list of 20 cities includes cities from India, U.K., and China.
Except Hyderabad and London, all other cities are in China in the list.
Telangana Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy took to Twitter and said, “Congratulations to all stakeholders. Firstly the communities for making the city a safer place to live in.”
In 2019, Mr. Reddy also announced to install 10 lakh CCTV cameras in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, covering three police commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda.
Hyderabad has been installing CCTV cameras for the last few years with an intent to detect and prevent crimes.
