Hyderabad: In a significant drive against illegal constructions, Hydra officials, backed by bulldozers, demolished unauthorized structures in Kukatpally’s Nallacheruvu, Kishtareddypet in Aminpur, and Patelguda on Sunday. Following a drone survey conducted two days earlier, the officials had issued warnings to occupants of illegally constructed buildings, giving them until Sunday to vacate. As they failed to comply, a total of 44 structures, including 25 villas and multi-storied buildings, were razed.
Hydra Commissioner AV Ranganath confirmed that around 8 acres of government land, valued at ₹200 crores, was reclaimed during the operation. The demolitions focused on government land occupied by illegal constructions, including catering kitchens, flexi printing presses, water plants, and warehouses.
Early Morning Demolitions
The demolitions began early Sunday morning at 6 am, with heavy police security. Power supplies to the targeted structures were cut before demolition work began at 7:30 am, continuing until noon. The operation was supervised by key officials, including Hydra Deputy City Planner Ramireddy, ACP Rameshkumar, and DCP Srinivasa Rao.
Tears and Tension
While some occupants vacated their structures early, others were left devastated. Some business owners, including those renting the sheds, were reduced to tears, with attempts made to block the demolition vehicles. A tense moment unfolded when a printing press owner, Ravi, collapsed in despair after his requests to salvage his goods were ignored.
