The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) announced moderate to heavy rainfall alert in Telangana for the next three days.

The rainfall is said to be due to the low pressure over the central part of the western Rajasthan. The high temperature in the deserted land of Rajasthan is also a major reason for moderate to heavy rainfall including lightning and thunderstorm.

In regard to this, the IMD announced a red alert in Rajasthan and Haryana.

The officials also said low pressure which is expected to develop over the northern Bay of Bengal would lead to rainfall in isolated places of Telangana.

In addition, thunderstorms and lightning with rainfall would be seen on the 26th of August.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS,) districts like Mancherial, Jagtial, Jayashankar, Sangareddy, Mahabubnagar and Narayanpet received light rainfall between 2.5 and 15.5 mm. Whereas, Krishna mandal in Narayanpet district received the highest of 14.3 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, state average rainfall in Telangana in the last 24 hours is between 3.8 mm to 3.9 mm. In addition from June 1st to 24th of August, State recorded 808.4 mm rainfall against normal 545.00 mm.

Besides Telangana, coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh like Yanam, Rayalaseema are also likely to get rainfall due to the low pressure.
