The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Kavitha stated that farmers could live happily only when they have access to sufficient electricity for their fields. She voiced this opinion in response to Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Revanth Reddy’s remarks about free electricity.

In protest against Revanth Reddy’s comments, Kavitha organized a dharna (sit-in protest) near the power station in the city under the aegis BRS. Party leaders and corporators participated in the event, voicing their opposition to Revanth Reddy and the Congress party. Later, an effigy of Revanth Reddy was burned.

During this occasion, Kavitha claimed that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is providing valuable electricity to farmers and supplying water from the Kaleshwaram project. She noted that the Rythu Bandhu scheme being implemented in Telangana is unique in the country. She inferred that the farmer declaration made by the Congress party is bogus based on Revanth Reddy’s comments.

“For 60 years, the Congress party, which has been in power in the country, caused troubles for the farmers during their rule. Why can’t they provide 24 hours of electricity to farmers? Does Revanth Reddy have the audacity to say that they should not provide it to the industries? He suggested that farmers, who feed us three meals a day, should be given only 3 hours of electricity. We need to confront Revanth Reddy till he goes back to the village. He should immediately apologize to the farmers. Until Revanth Reddy apologizes, Congress leaders should not be allowed to roam the villages,” Kavitha expressed her anger.
