Hyderabad’s historic Kacheguda Railway Station could soon get a major upgrade under a proposed ₹474.29-crore redevelopment plan.
The draft plan includes a new terminal building on the eastern side of the station, towards Amberpet. The existing heritage building on the western side is proposed to be preserved.
One of the main features is a 72-metre-wide air concourse above the platforms. The plan also includes food courts, retail outlets, lounges and children’s play areas.
Separate routes for arriving and departing passengers have also been proposed. A skywalk connecting the railway station with the nearby TGSRTC bus station is part of the plan.
Multilevel parking facilities are also proposed on both sides of the station.
Kacheguda currently handles around 46,689 passengers a day. Passenger numbers are projected to reach 1.05 lakh a day by 2063.
The proposal is still at the draft stage and may change after further review.
