Hours after the declaration of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) election results, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Party showed disappointment.
On the night of the 4th of December, the State Election Commission (SEC) released the final results of the recently held GHMC elections.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won the elections with the majority of the seats, followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) and the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM.)
There was a close fight between the BJP and the AIMIM for the second spot.
According to the released results, the TRS won 55 wards, the BJP 48, the AIMIM 44 and the Indian National Congress (INC) 2.
Despite winning the highest number of divisions, the TRS were not expecting these results.
K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the TRS said, the results were not as expected and added that there was no need to get dejected as the party was still the single largest in the GHMC.
Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan Mr. Rao said, “The result is certainly not what was expected. We lost in 10 to 12 divisions with a margin of less than 200 votes. The desired outcome was not given by the people. We will deliberate in detail in the party meetings.”
In addition, the TRS leader thanked all the party leaders and voters for their support.
KTR specially mentioned about the social media campaigners’ for their support to the TRS.
The TRS lost elections with slender margins in divisions like BN Reddy Colony with 18 votes, Moula Ali with 200 votes, Malkajgiri with 70 votes, Moosapet 100, Adikmet with 200.
