K.T. Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, on the 18th of August, announced construction of drainage at Sammaiah Nagar colony.

The decision was taken to resolve the problem of inundation permanently.

Mr. Rao directed the concerned officials in the area to consider the feasibility of constricting sluice to the Bhadrakali Lake in the city.

The decision were taken after KTR along with Eatala Rajender, the Health Minister of Telangana, visited rain affected areas in Telangana.

After heavy rainfall since the 15th of August, many areas and districts of Telangana witnessed water blockage and damage.

Mr. Rao and Mr. Rajender took a stock of the situation through a chopper.

Mr. Rao landed his chopper at University Arts and Science College’s ground.

Telangana Cabinet ministers like Errabelli Dayakar Rao , Satyavathi Rathod, Government Chief Whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar and other officials welcomed Mr. Rao.

During his visit to rain affected areas, KTR first visited Naimnagar locality, followed by Sammaiah Nagar.

Sammaiah Nagar was worst affected area due to heavy rainfall and flood like situation.

During his visit, KTR announced construction of a drainage at a cost of Rs. 10 crores to let out the flood waters.

Mr. Rao said, “I appeal to the city dwellers to cooperate with the government to remove the illegal structures on the nalas that had become the obstruction to the free flow of the waters.”

Apart from this, KTR also visited the bridge on the Bhadrakali Lake nala near RR Function Hall at Peddammagadda. He also the officials to take immediate steps for the removal of the encroachments and other obstructions due to the flood and heavy rainfall.

He also inspected the Bondhi Vaagu nala. Interacting with the locals.

Besides, rain affected areas, KTR also visited the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 ward at MGMH hospital, designated as COVID-19 treatment centre.

Mr. Rao on his visit said, “We will arrange 150 more beds for the Covid-19 patients besides inaugurating the Covid-19 hospital built under the PMSSY scheme at KMC premises.”

GWMC Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao, MAUD Principal Secretary Aravind Kumar, Director of Municipal Administration N. Satyanarayana, District Collector Rajiv Gandhi, GWMC commissioner Pamela Satpathy and others accompanied Mr. Rao.
