KTR Questions Telangana Government’s Farmer Support

Farmers’ welfare and irrigation have become major issues in Telangana’s political debate. Concerns over pending financial assistance and water supply have added to the discussion about the state’s agricultural policies.

At a public meeting in Adilabad on November 1, BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s government over its handling of farmers’ issues.

KTR demanded Rs 60,000 per acre for farmers, covering three pending Rythu Bandhu installments and the assistance due for the current Yasangi season. He also sought pending payments for tenant farmers and landless agricultural workers.

He questioned the government’s failure to fulfil its promise of increasing Rythu Bandhu assistance from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per acre annually.

KTR also criticised the use of Godavari water, claiming that large amounts were flowing into the sea without being properly used for irrigation. He said better use of existing irrigation projects could have helped farmers across 35 lakh acres.

He assured farmers that the BRS would continue fighting for their welfare.
