M. Raghunandan Rao, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would contest the by poll for Dubbaka Assembly constituency.
On the night of the 6th of October, the BJP in Delhi, announced the candidature of Mr. Raghunandan Rao.
Raghunandan Rao who is a lawyer by profession, has already started his campaign in the constituency. He served as the BJP’s official spokesperson in the State during the tenure of Dr. K. Laxman, the former President of the BJP in Telangana. He contested from the Dubbaka constituency twice earlier in 2014 and and 2018, but lost both the times ending up in third position.
This will be his third attempt. Raghunandan Rao is being fielded against Ramalinga Reddy’s wife Sujatha whose candidature from TRS.
Meanwhile former TRS leader Cheruku Srinivas Reddy, son of former Minister Cheruku Muthyam Reddy, joined the Indian National Congress and is likely to contest in the bypoll on the Party’s ticket.
After Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Dubbaka passed away, the MLA position fell vacant. Mr. Ramalinga Reddy died of cardiac arrest on the 6th of August at a private hospital in Hyderabad, Telangana.
In regard to this, amid the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 situation, the Telangana State Election Commission released a notice for the Dubbaka by polls.
According to the released notification, the election will be scheduled on the 3rd November, 2020.
While the last date for nominations is on 16th of October, the scrutiny of the nominations would be held on the 17th of October.
The last date for withdrawing the nominations is on the 19th October, 2020.
The results of the elections would be announced on the 10th of November.
