Tadwai: “I want to see my son at least once before I die,” said Bathukamma, the tearful mother of CPI Maoist Telangana in-charge Bade Chokkarao, also known as Damodar. During a program organized by the Mulugu district police titled ‘Poru Kanna Uru Minna-Mana Ururi Daluri Randi’ on Friday, Bathukamma expressed her longing to reunite with her son, who has been part of the Maoist movement for years.

Bathukamma, a resident of Kalvapalli village in Tadwai mandal, was examined by doctors during the event. She was also provided with essential items and fruits. She spent 30 minutes with officials, emotionally sharing her hope of seeing her firstborn after years of separation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Superintendent of Police (SP) assured her that Damodar could lead a peaceful life if he surrendered. “There is no need for Damodar to remain incognito. If he surrenders, all charges will be dropped, and he will receive Rs. 20 lakhs, agricultural land, and a house,” the SP promised.

The SP also engaged with families of several Maoists in the district, highlighting the government’s rehabilitation efforts and urging them to encourage their relatives to return to mainstream society.
