The scheduled visit of Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, to Hyderabad, has been postponed.

On the 11th of January, evening, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) wrote to Mr. G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Tourism and Home Minister of Telangana State, regarding the postponement.

On the 12th of January, Thursday, Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana, announced the same to the public.    Although the Central Government has not given any specific reason behind the postponement, PM Narendra Modi’s Karnataka schedule is likely to be a reason for the same.

Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar said, the scheduled visit of Mr. Narendra Modi on the 19th of January is postponed and a revised schedule would be announced soon, which is likely to be in February.

It is to be noted, During the visit, PM Narendra Modi was scheduled to launch several development projects in the Telugu State of Telangana. 

According to sources, during the one day visit, PM Narendra Modi was scheduled to inaugurate South Central Railway development works worth Rs. 2,400 crores, modernisation of Secunderabad railway station at a cost of Rs. 700 crores, doubling of the railway line between Secunderabad and Mahabubnagar at a cost of Rs. 1,231 crores and works on Kazipet railway coach workshop at a cost of Rs. 521 crores.  In addition, PM Narendra Modi would also have inaugurated various Indian Institute Technology (IIT) buildings, which would accommodate 5,000 students with 18 hostel buildings. 

In addition, Mr. Narendra Modi was also scheduled to flag off the Vande Bharat Express train between Secunderabad (Telangana) and Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh.) 

However, with the postponement of Mr. Narendra Modi’s visit, the project’s launch is expected to be halted until the revised dates are announced.
