The All India Confederation of Scheduled Caste (SC )/ the Scheduled Tribe (ST) organizations requested Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, renamed Hyderabad district to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
In a letter addressed to Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the organizations asked to rename Hyderabad district, the capital of Telangana to Ambedkar Hyderabad. Giving the reason behind this request, the SC/ST organization said that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who constituted the Indian Constitution, got India’s first doctor literature degree from the Osmania University of Hyderabad. Furthermore, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar also suggested Hyderabad to become the second capital of India and so on.
“It is humbly requested by the CM of state to name Hyderabad district to Ambedkar Hyderabad district on the occasion of the 132 birth anniversary celebration and inauguration of the world’s tallest statue of Ambedkar to be held on 14 April 2023 (sic,)” read the letter.
Notably, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao is scheduled to inaugurate a 45 feet tall statue of Dr. Ambedkar on his 132nd birthday, the 14th of April.
