The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK,) a political party of Tamil Nadu invited the All India Majlis e Ittehadul (AIMIM) for a conference.
The conference is scheduled to discuss the upcoming 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.
Asaduddin Owaisi, the President of the AIMIM, has been invited for the meeting scheduled on the 6th of January.
The DMK minority wing secretary Dr. Mastan on the 1st of January visited Hyderabad and met Mr. Owaisi at his residence. During the meeting Dr. Mastan invited Asaduddin Owaisi for a DMK conference organised in Chennai.
The decision to invite the AIMIM Chief is said to be a possible alliance between the AIMIM and the DMK for 2021 possible elections.
However, an official announcement is yet to be made.
The conference is said to be important after the AIMIM in November 2020, announced to contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
The M.K. Stalin led DMK is a major opposition party in Tamil Nadu against the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK.)
The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in between April-May 2021.
