On Sunday, almost 5000 people, mostly techies participated in the 10k/5k run that was organized by Seva Bharathi- Telangana as ‘Run for the Girl Child.’ The distance run was organised for techies and families as well. The event started at Gachibowli stadium passed through the major squares of the Financial district and returned to the Gachibowli stadium. Vinod Agarwal, the Principal Secretary of Telangana State Government, and CapGemini head Dayakar Reddy flagged off the event. The 5 k run extended till the Microsoft Office gate and the 10 k crossed T-Grill and ended again at the Gachibowli Stadium.
Multi national companies like CapGemini, Genpact, Magma Finance, Care hospitals and many more IT companies participated in this run. Apart from these gated family communities, 400 beneficiaries of ‘Kishori Vikas’ program from low income areas of GHMC areas also participate in the run.
Raghunath Veerabally, Seva Bharathi General Secretary said, “This run is aimed at adding 400 Kishori Vikas Centers to the existing 100 centers run in various parts of Hyderabad. These centers empower Girl Children residing in Slums and Low Income areas by helping them in their Education, Health and Skill Development.”
The run was to provide to support and educate girl child along with their development.
