The India Meteorological Department, with the arrival of southwest monsoon, has declared heavy rainfall warning to Telangana State till June 18. K.G. Ramesh, the IMD Director General said both the Telugu speaking States Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will receive a heavy rainfall till the southwest monsoon is active.

He said that for now, a low pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal, that has led to early monsoon. He said that this monsoon will be favorable for both the states as monsoon extends. Mr. Ramesh said, “A trough on the sea level chart runs from Chhattisgarh to south Tamil Nadu across Telangana and Rayalaseema. This is causing heavy rainfall in the two states.”

The temperatures have dropped by almost 10 degrees Celsius in both the states after the onset of monsoon. A warning was also issued for isolated parts of AP, including Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur will receive a heavy rainfall.
