In less than 48 hours, another student of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technology (RGUKT) also known as Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Basara died.
On the 14th of June, Bura Likhita (17) allegedly died after she fell from the fourth floor of her hostel building as informed by the IIIT Basara Administration. However, it is still unclear if the girl committed suicide or it was an accident.
The administration immediately rushed her to a hospital where doctors declared her dead. The police has registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.
Likhita was a student of Pre University Course and was from Gajwel in Siddipet district, Telangana. She Likhita was in PUC first year and returned to the hostel a week back.
It is to be noted, this is the second incident of a student dying in the campus premises. Recently, Deepika (17) who was also a student of PUC first year, hanged herself in the hostel washroom.
Moreover, in the past six months, IIIT Basara reported four cases of suicide, raising alarming concern amongst other students and parents.
