The Telangana Monsoon Assembly session, which commenced from the 24th of September, is scheduled till the 5th of October.
The Business Advisory Committee (BAC,) conducted a meeting on the evening of the 24th of September and took a decision regarding the number of days and agendas of the Legislature session. During the meeting, the BAC decided to hold the 8th Assembly Session till the 5th of October. The decision is said to be a temporary decision and the final number of days for the Assembly session are awaited.
Mr. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, the Assembly Speaker of Telangana, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Ms. Padma Rao, the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Working President Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi, the Indian National Congress (INC) Legislature Malli Bhatti Vikramarka, Mr. Vemula Prashanth Reddy, the Legislative Affairs Minister of Telangana and Mr. T. Harish Rao, the Telangana Finance Minister, attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao appealed to the Members of the Legislative Assembly to follow all the protocols of the Wuhan virus. He also asked all the MLAs and members to follow the COVIDh-19 protocols. Highlighting the same, KCR said, “The assembly should be convened for as many days as possible. All issues should be discussed at length. Allocate adequate time for negotiations and take the advice of the opposition. Not only government issues but also issues that the opposition wants to discuss should be taken into consideration. Assembly sessions should be held in accordance with the House traditions such as Question Hour, Zero Hour, Adjournment Motions. Lunch should be arranged daily as the House will send the bills to the members in advance.”
Proposed agendas for the 8th Legislative session:
The Dalit Bandhu Scheme, discussion on agriculture sector and its growth, development of Information Technology and Urban Development sector, five drafted bills and ongoing COVID-19 pandemic are some of the major issues listed for discussions and debates. In addition, unemployed youth, Krishna Godavari rivers water issue, education, agriculture-forest rights law, agriculture, medicine-health, Dharani portal, essentials-price rise, peacekeeping, drugs, and alcohol excise are among the 12 concerns raised, which might be discussed.
However, a final agenda for the Monsoon Assembly session of Telangana would be finalised by Monday, the 27th of September. In addition, the BAC would also reconsider the number of days for the Legislature session, and is likely to extend it.
As of now, the Telangana Monsoon Assembly session is scheduled till the 5th of October, a final decision is expected on the 27th of September.
