Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana, is set to begin his state wide padayatra (walkabout to meet constituents.)
The padayatra named Praja Sangrama Yatra, is scheduled to launch today, the 28th of August. The yatra is said to be an effort to strengthen and establish a strong hold of the BJP in Telangana.
The Praja Sangrama Yatra by the Telangana BJP President would continue for the next two months, until the 24th of October.
The official announcement of the scheduled padayatra was made by BJP leaders Mr. Raja Singh, Mr. Babu Mohan and Dr. Chandrasekhar on the 13th of August. Initially, the padayatra was scheduled to begin from the 24th of August, but due to the demise of the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Mr. Kalyan Singh, the launch was postponed.
Today Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar is going to start his Praja Sangrama Yatra from the famous Bhagyalakshmi Temple in Old Hyderabad. After offering prayers at the temple, he would begin his walk. During the span of two months, the BJP would walk from Old Hyderabad, covering all the mandals and regions and would end in Huzurabad. The first day of the tour would cover regions like Madina, Afzalgunj, Begumbazar, MJ Market, Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, Assembly, Lakdikapul, Masab Tank and Mehdipatnam. Along with Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, around 300 BJP karyakartas have enrolled themselves to walk on the inaugural day, organised on Saturday.
In addition, after the entire day of walking, the arrangements for the night stay have been made at G. Pulla Reddy Pharmacy College in Mehdipatnam.
With this, the planned Padayatra of the BJP came at a time, when Telangana is set to conduct a by poll in the Huzurabad Assembly constituency. As per sources, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to announce the Huzurabad Assembly by poll notification in the first week of September.
All the major political parties of Telangana, like the BJP, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) are in the fray to win the Assembly seat.
