Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana, wrote to Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana.
In his letter, dated on the 19tth of February, Saturday, Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar asked the Telangana CM to regularise the services of panchayat secretaries. He also asked to implement their (panchayat secretaries) pay scale accordingly.
Mr. Bandi Sanjay said there are around 12,765 gram panchayats where the panchayat secretaries are working. He further emphasised on the need of the regularisation in services of these secretaries and instilling confidence amongst them.
Bandi Sanjay Kumar said, “The panchayat secretaries were playing an important role in the development of villages. They deal with sanitary work, haritha haram programme, collection of taxes to control mosquito menace, and other works to develop the villages. They were also playing a key role in implementing various schemes introduced by the State government and on certain occasions they were also facing pressure from the elected representatives. Under these circumstances, the State government must come to the rescue of panchayat secretaries by regularizing their services.”
Meanwhile, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government is yet to respond to the letter written on Saturday.
