A Telangana BJP delegation, led by state president N Ramchander Rao, is set to visit the Jurala project on Tuesday to assess water levels and understand the problems faced by farmers in downstream areas.
Ramchander Rao said farmers are facing several difficulties due to the El Niño effect and what he described as a lack of government support. He demanded that the Telangana government release water from Jurala to help protect crops.
He also urged the state government to speak with the Karnataka government to ensure water releases from the Almatti and Narayanpur dams.
Rao said disputes among local leaders and poor coordination were also affecting farmers. During the visit, the BJP delegation plans to examine the water situation and gather information directly from farmers.
The BJP leader also criticised both the Congress and BRS, alleging that political disputes were diverting attention from public issues. These remarks were made during a media interaction at the BJP state office in Hyderabad.
The Jurala visit puts the focus on water availability and farmers’ crop concerns in the downstream areas.
