The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) began the Telangana Assembly and Council Budget session, from the 6th of March at the Telangana Assembly.
The session began at 11:00 A.M., with the speech of Tamilisai Soundararajan, the Governor of Telangana addressing both the houses, the Assembly and the Council.
While the budget for the year 2020-2021 would be presented on the 8th of March or the 9th of March. T. Harish Rao, the Finance Minister of Telangana would address the houses and present the budget of the State.
During today’s session, the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and the Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) would discuss two major issues, Coronavirus and the Citizenship (Amendment) Act [CAA,] 2019.
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) previously requested the State Government to not implement CAA in Telangana and stand against it. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) also demanded actions against the CAA. A TPCC spokesperson said, ““If JD (U,) which is part of the BJP-led NDA, can pass a resolution rejecting CAA, NRC and NPR then, why TRS, which claims to be anti-BJP and secular, could not pass a similar resolution in the Telangana Assembly.”
The TRS is also expected to pass a resolution in today’s session against the CAA, the National Population Register and National Register of Citizens (NRC.)
Another topic which would be highlighted in today’s session is the deadly Novel Coronavirus also known as COVID-19.
Besides, discussing these two issues, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led TRS is scheduled to present the New Revenue Act and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Act for discussion and pass it.
The MLAs would deliver the Motion of Thanks to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan’s speech on the 7th of March.
Meanwhile, after today’s session, the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) is scheduled to conduct a meeting on the 6th of March and decide the number of days of the Budget session.
