Telangana plans to build Satellite townships

K.T. Rama Rao, the Minister for Information Technology, Panchayat Raj and Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) said that the government is planning the Transit Oriented Growth Corridor (TOGC) at 13 different locations. These are being made part of incorporated master plan to build satellite townships.

In a reply to the question on satellite townships adjacent to the ring roads, posed MLA’s KP Vivekanand, M. Sudhir Reddy and Anjaiah, in the assembly on Thursday, K.T.R., said that the government is considering these satellite township under Public Private Partnership (PPP). Also, land pooling scheme is under process by creating a special purpose vehicle.

He also added that the Centre agreed to fund the proposal of the State Government to build 330 km Regional Ring Road. The MIM leaders Akbaruddin Owaisi, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan raised the topic of water supply problem and pipelines in the old city area, to which K.T.R., said, “Another 1,156 km of the pipeline has to be replaced. The board is planning to do it at a cost of 502 crore rupees with the financial assistance from Hudco.”

All in all some major changes are being implemented in developing the city of Hyderabad by the State government of Telangana.
