The Telangana Government on the 19th of June, Saturday, announced to lift the imposed lockdown in the State. 

The decision was taken after conducting a Cabinet emergency meeting, chaired by K. Chandrashekhar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana. The meeting was held at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday at Pragati Bhavan, Hyderabad.

During the meeting, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Cabinet ministers and senior officials discussed the current situation of the Wuhan Virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.) After taking into consideration the drop in the COVID-19 positivity rate in Telangana, the Cabinet announced complete relaxation from the lockdown.

The Cabinet examined all the reports submitted by the medical and health department officials, which indicated a positive trend and fewer cases of COVID-19.

KCR said, the COVID-19 situation in Telangana is completely under control and it is safe to lift lockdown restrictions. In addition, the TRS Government directed the Education Department to reopen all educational institutions from the 1st of July in all aspects with total preparedness.

The State Government also said, with this decision, the Government would also observe the normal livelihood along with precautions to sustain the spread of the Wuhan virus.

However, the State Government urged people not to be casual and follow COVID-19 protocols. They also asked to venture out only if there is an unavoidable emergency situation. The Cabinet said, “The people should strictly follow the COVID-19 restrictions like wearing of a mask, maintenance of social distance and use of sanitizers which are compulsory.”

With this, all restrictions would be lifted from Sunday, the 20th of June. Telangana witnessed lockdown from the 12th of May, which continued till the 19th of June.

During the imposed lockdown, people are allowed to function and step outside only between 6:00 A.M., to 10:00 A.M. Activities like grocery shopping, markets, petrol pumps and others would be functional for 4 hours. Except medical emergencies and essential providers nothing is allowed to function during the imposed lockdown. However, now everything could open without any restrictions.

Meanwhile, till date, Telangana has 6,10,834 positive cases, of which 5,88,259 are recovered/discharged cases, 19,029 active cases and 3,546 death cases.
