K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, launched the 75 week celebration event for 75th Independence Day. On the 15th of August 2022, India would complete 75 years of Independence
Mr. Rao and Tamilisai Soundararajan, the Governor of Telangana marked the beginning of a 75 week celebration event on the 12th of March. The launch ceremony was held in two places in the State, Public Gardens and Warangal.
While KCR hoisted the National Flag at Public Gardens in Hyderabad, the Telangana Governor unfurled the Tricolour at Warangal. Post flag hoisting, a police march past was held followed by cultural programmes. Both the events were organised following the guidelines of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
Speaking at the ceremony in Hyderabad, K. Chandrashekar Rao asked all Members of Parliament (MPs,) Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs,) Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) and other public representatives to make all the events a success for the Country’s glory.
KCR said, “Independence Day should not lose its relevance.”
The event organisation would be supervised by a special committee. On the 8th of March, Mr. Rao constituted a high level committee to organise grand celebrations. The Government advisor K.V. Ramanachary would head the State organising committee for ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations. Other members of the committee include Principal Secretaries of General Administration, Finance, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Panchayat Raj, Cultural Affairs and Education departments along with the Director of Municipal Administration and Commissioner of Panchayat Raj. The Director of Culture Mamidi Harikrishna would be the member secretary of the committee.
In regard to the celebration, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government even allocated Rs. 25 crores. The celebration would be a part of the Nation wide ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ initiated by the Union Government.
Besides the inaugural event, the TRS Government hoisted huge national flags at 75 important places across Telangana.
The 75 week long festivities include patriotic programmes like essay writing competitions, poetry conventions, elocution competition, painting competitions, etc. would be organised at various levels.
