Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, met with Mr. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Union Jal Shakti Minister.

Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, who is on a three day visit to Delhi met with the Union Minister, today, the 25th of September and discussed the Krishna River water dispute. It is to be noted, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are having a dispute over water and illegal constructions at Krishna River and Godavari River banks.

The illegal construction and projects on the banks of the Krishna and the Godavari rivers by the Telangana Government and the Andhra Pradesh Government is a long pending matter. In the past few months, the matter intensified with the constant involvement of the Union Government.

Today’s meeting was also scheduled to discuss the ongoing matter. During the meeting, KCR said integrated water projects of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana should be placed under the river management boards. He urged the Union Minister to direct the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) and the Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) to take up any works after confirming the water shares between the two Telugu states.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President also discussed the notices and gazettes issued by the Union Government, regarding the matter.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Rao submitted a detailed letter mentioning about the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation project, which would help the farmers of the region. Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao sought approval and cooperation of the Central Government for the project, to begin the construction work soon.

The Telangana Chief Minister was accompanied by Mr. Ala Venkateshwar Reddy, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Devarakadra, Mr. Rajender Reddy, the MLA of Narayanpet and Ms. Laxma Reddy, the MLA of Jadcherla.

On the 24th of September, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao left for Delhi to attend a special meeting called by Mr. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister.

It is to be noted, Mr. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister called for a special meeting with the chief ministers of Maoist affected States. The meeting is scheduled to be held on the 26th of September, around 11:00 A.M., at Vigyan Bhavan, Delhi.

Mr. Amit Shah would chair the meeting and discuss the Maoist issue, especially during the Maoist Week Celebration. During the meeting, Mr. Amit Shah would discuss the security and development work in the Maoist affected areas. Besides the CM of Telangana, chief ministers of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh would also attend the meeting.

Meanwhile, after attending the meeting, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao is scheduled to return to Hyderabad on the evening of the 26th of September.
