The Telangana Education Department announced a reduction of 30 % syllabus for the 2021-2022 Intermediate students.
The final announcement regarding the same was made by Ms. Sabitha Indra Reddy, the Education Minister of Telangana. On the 12th of October, the State Minister of Education said that the decision to reduce the Intermediate Public Exam (IPE) first year syllabus to 70 % was taken considering the loss of education and less classes due to the Wuhan virus pandemic. Broke out in 2020 January, the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19,) disturbed the education system due to the months of lockdown. In major regions of India, schools, educational institutions and colleges were shut in 2020 and 2021 till August, resulting in huge loss of education.
In the past one year, the Central Government and the State governments postponed/cancelled several exams. The students were also promoted to the next class based on their class assessments.
Speaking to the media, Ms. Sabitha Indra Reddy said, “The first-year intermediate students shall be provided with free study material prepared by the help of experts. Biology, physics, botany, and mathematics study material is being uploaded on the TSBIE website and the material of the rest of the subjects will be uploaded soon.” In addition, Mr. Syed Jaleel, the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education Secretary, said, “For some time the intermediate students were deprived of the classroom education due to which TSBIE has decided to reduce their exam syllabus to 70%.”
The Telangana State Education Department is set to conduct the first year Intermediate Public Exam from the 25th of October.
