Telangana is facing unusual heat in October, with temperatures across the State rising well above normal levels. Dry weather and a shortage of seasonal rainfall have contributed to the rise.
According to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Telangana Development Planning Society (TSDPS), maximum temperatures were 2.2°C to nearly 5°C above normal in the last 24 hours.
Bhadrachalam recorded the State’s highest temperature at 37.3°C, according to TSDPS data. Mahabubnagar recorded 37.2°C, followed by Nizamabad at 36.7°C and Khammam at 36.2°C.
Hyderabad also experienced higher-than-usual temperatures. The Begumpet airport area recorded 34.9°C, which was 3.2°C above normal. Hakimpet recorded 34.7°C, nearly 4.7°C above its normal level.
Within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits, JPN Nagar in Miyapur recorded 35.2°C, the highest maximum temperature in the area over the past 24 hours.
The unusual heat has continued into the second week of October, bringing summer-like conditions to several parts of Telangana.
