For the new year’s evening (NYE) the Telangana Government relaxed a few guidelines.

On the 30th of December, the Telangana Excise Department allowed bars and clubs to remain open until 1:00 A.M.

Liquors would be available till 1:00 A.M., but there should be no drunken drive cases. The Hyderabad police launched a drive, specially for the NYE, and strictly asked people not to do drunken driving.

Bars are allowed to stay open for up to an hour, till 1:00 A.M.

However, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government imposed a ban on New Year celebrations.

The decision was taken in the wake of the new strain of the COVID-19.

Pubs, clubs and bars which are allowed to sell liquor were directed to avoid parties or gatherings. Even the parties in the apartments and gated communities are banned.

All the wine shops already purchased extra stocks so as to not go out of stock for new year’s eve demands.

Cyberabad commissioner V.C Sajjanar said that special surveillance was being carried out on resorts, but pubs and clubs which were not allowed to open late.

On the other hand, concerned over the new strain of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19, the Telangana Health Minister Eatala Rajender and Director of the Public Health Dr. G Srinivasa Rao asked people to avoid NYE celebrations.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Observatory Department issued directives to follow mandatory guidelines of COVID-19.

While states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal issued directives and guidelines for the NYE celebrations, Maharashtra, Delhi and Bengaluru imposed partial precautionary guidelines and night curfews.
