Telangana Government Announces To Promote Students Of Class I to IX

Telangana Education Department, on the 5th of May, issued a notice to promote students of class I to class IX of the academic year 2019-2020.

The Telangana Government issued the notice promoting all the students of Classes I to Classes IX, in both government and private schools in the State.  The decision was taken in the wake of the ongoing lockdown due to the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

The State has been under a lockdown since the 24th of March, halting assessment exams of the students.

The notice came after, K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, during a Cabinet meeting on the 5th of May, approved the decision to promote students to the next academic year 2020-2021.

Chitra Ramchandran, the Special Chief Secretary to the Telangana Education department, said “Government, after careful examination of the matter and keeping in view of the hardship caused due to the Covid-19 pandemic, hereby decide to cancel the SA-II exams for the Classes I to IX and order to promote all students of the Classes I to IX studying in the government, aided and private unaided schools during the academic year 2019-20 to next higher classes in the academic year 2020-21.”

The Commissioner of School Education is directed to take the necessary steps and follow the issued notice.

However, the SSC (Class X)  and other competitive exams are scheduled to be held after the 15th of June in the State.
