The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the ruling Government of Telangana, on the 28th of July, claimed no deaths due to the lack of oxygen.
Telangana becomes The 7th Indian state to back the claims of the Central Government, which said, India reported zero Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths due to low supply of oxygen.
A senior official of the TRS Government said, “There is no such case of death due to oxygen shortage in Telangana.”
Though the State Government admitted that there was a shortage of oxygen initially during the second wave of the Wuhan virus, they said no death was due to that. The TRS Medical Department said, both the State Government and the Central Government extended support to the Health sector and ensured enough oxygen for the patients in need. The Medical Department official, who wished to be anonymous said,
“Telangana required above 500 Metric Tonnes (MTs) of medial oxygen per day when the pandemic was at its peak in the State. The Centre had provided nearly 400 MTs and the T- State generated more than 100 MTs of oxygen.”
On the 28th of July, the TRS Government presented a detailed report with the aforementioned claims. The TRS Medical Department submitted the data to the Telangana Government, which would be sent to the Central Government. The report of the TRS Government would be a major support to the Government of India (GoI,) to prove their claims. In addition, on the 27th of July, the Central Government also asked all the states and union territories of India to submit data on deaths due to the oxygen shortage.
Besides Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu claimed zero COVID-19 deaths due to the lack of oxygen supply during the second wave of the Wuhan virus.
