In a recent development to the Teenmar Mallanna extortion case, the Telangana High Court (HC) granted bail to Mr. Chintapandu Naveen, a former politician and a famous journalist in Hyderabad, Telangana.

Who is Chintapandu Naveen?

Mr. Chintapandu Naveen is an independent political leader and journalist in Telangana. He is famous as Teenmar Mallanna for his show Teenmar Vaartalu. He worked with various news channels, later launched his own news channel named Q News and a YouTube Channel.

It is to be noted, Mr. Chintapandu Naveen, famous as Teenmar Mallana, was arrested in an extortion case. On the 21st of August, 2021, the Hyderabad Police arrested him for allegedly taking Rs. 30 lakh from an astrologer.

According to sources, an astrologer named Sannidhanam Lakshmikant Sharma, a resident of Madhura Nagar, Chilkalguda, lodged a complaint with the police that some people were deliberately spreading fake news about him. He also alleged that he received a WhatsApp call from a person who identified himself as Teenmaar Mallanna, that news against him would be published in the electronic media and on YouTube channels if he failed to pay him Rs. 30 lakh.

Based on the complaint of the astrologer, the police registered a complaint under Sections 387 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)

Mr. Chintapandu Naveen was in jail for 2 months, since the 21st of August. However, on the 8th of November, the Telangana HC granted him bail. He would be released from the jail today evening.

This is not the first case of money extortion filed against Mr. Chintapandu Naveen. In the past, a total of 38 cases have been registered against him in regard to money extortion. Of the total cases, six were dismissed by the High Court and in the remaining 31 cases, he has been given a bail.
