While the Kerala Government declared the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus a ‘State disaster,’ the Telangana Government said the State is prepared to fight the virus, if needed.
On the 5th of February, Etela Rajender, the Health Minister of Telangana, assured the people of Telangana and said the State Health Department is prepared to fight the disease.
Mr. Rajender addressed the media and said the Telangana Rasthtra Samithi (TRS,) which is aware of the deadly virus, has all the machines and other medical services required to tackle it.
Mr. Rajender also asked the citizens of Telangana not to worry as no positive cases were reported in Telangana so far.
As per the directions of the Telangana Health Department officials, the State run Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad started medical checkups for people showing symptoms of Novel Coronavirus.
People who travelled from China to Telangana were tested at the Hyderabad Airport, whereas those suspected of having the virus are under observation at the Hospital.
Besides, the State Government also appointed a special officer, Dr. Vijay Kumar, as well as made arrangements for isolated wards at Gandhi Hospital to test people and treat cases of Coronavirus.
Gandhi Hospital is the only hospital in the 2 Telugu speaking states to have proper arrangements for the tests.
Residents of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh showing symptoms like cough, cold and fever are advised to immediately visit Gandhi Hospital and get their tests done.
Meanwhile, in China, the death toll crossed 500 and more than 28,000 people are infected with the virus. In India, the Novel Coronavirus infected 3 people. The 3 positive cases were reported in Kerala.
