Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has issued significant directives concerning the attendance of children under 16 years of age in cinema theatres. The court ordered that children in this age group should not be allowed in theatres between 11 PM and 11 AM.
The decision came during a hearing on petitions related to the hike in movie ticket prices and the approval of special shows. Justice B. Vijay Sen Reddy, presiding over the bench, emphasized the need for a discussion with all stakeholders before implementing the order.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that unrestricted attendance at late-night or early-morning shows could adversely impact children’s health. Agreeing with this argument, the court highlighted the importance of safeguarding children’s well-being and suggested that proper guidelines be framed.
The court has scheduled the next hearing on this matter for February 22. This directive aligns with efforts to prioritize the health and welfare of children while addressing broader concerns surrounding the management of cinema schedules and ticketing practices in the state.
