Telangana: Osmania University Likely To Conduct Final Year UG/PG Exams From September 15

The Osmania University of Telangana is likely to conduct the final semester examinations of undergraduate courses, conventional and professional courses from the 15th of September. 

The decision came after the recent judgement of the Supreme Court (SC) regarding the final year examinations amid the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

According to the Supreme Court judgement, the UGC are authorised to decide about the exams and state governments need to cooperate and conduct the examinations for final year students.

The Apex Court said, despite the COVID-19 outbreak, the students could not be passed without any examinations.

In regard to this, the OU announced to conduct the final year examinations in September.

A detailed time table for these examinations will be issued by the Osmania University soon.

While undergraduate, and professional course final year exams are likely to begin from 15th of September, examinations for the Post Graduate courses are likely to be held in October.

Dr. Sriram Venkatesh, the Controller of Examinations at OU, said, “Tentatively, the final year final semester exams for all UG courses will commence from September 15. We are gathering information related to the examination centres and in two to three days, will issue the time-table.”

The Osmania University directed all colleges of Telangana to conduct the final semester/year examinations for students of all Under Graduate / Post Graduate programmes of 2019-20 academic year. It would also include backlog students.

The OU instructed all colleges to promote all regular students, belonging to Intermediate semesters/years for the academic year 2019-20 to the academic year 2020-21.

However, these students should clear all examinations, including backlogs if any, when the colleges would be able to conduct examinations.

For students who were detained or have backlogs the OU issued a letter and promoted them as per the OU promotion rules due to the COVID-19 situation.

The letter issued by the OU administration read, “The students who are detained in the Intermediate semesters/years during or prior to the academic year 2018-19 for having more than the stipulated number of backlogs as per OU promotion rules shall also be promoted to next higher semester/year subject to fulfilling the rules of re-admission. However, such students have to appear and clear the backlogs, whenever the examinations are held to finally complete the course.”

The official time table for OU examinations for final year students are yet to come.

The University asked all the students appearing for the exams to deposit examination fees by the 7th of September.

Students of courses like Bachelors of Arts /Bachelors of Commerce (B.Com,) Bachelors of Science (BSc,) Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) and others for semester II, IV, & VI (regular and backlog), and I, III, V (only backlog) semester examinations 2020 with a fine of Rs 200 at their respective colleges.

In addition, for engineering courses, the last date for payment of exam fees is the 5th of September.
