Andhra Pradesh Government Bans Online Gambling Games, Says Perni Nani

On the 3rd of September, the  Andhra Pradesh Government decided to ban online poker games. 

On Thursday, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) conducted a Cabinet and took several key decisions.

One of the major decisions taken during the meeting was to ban games like rummy and poker, which are pushing the youth on a wrong path.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, chaired the Cabinet meeting.

Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani,) the Information Technology Minister of Andhra Pradesh, after the Cabinet meeting, addressed a press conference and briefed the media about the Cabinet meeting. 

Mr. Nani said, “We have decided to ban all such online gambling to protect the youth.”

According to the state cabinet decision, organisers of online gambling would be jailed for a year besides being penalised, for a first time offence.

The jail term would go upto two years with fine for the second offence.

Also, those caught playing the online games would be sent to remand home for six months. 

The State Government would issue an order regarding the same soon.
