Telangana Power Bills To Rise From November

Electricity consumers in Telangana will face an additional ₹5,420.23 crore burden from bills issued in November 2026. The Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission (TGERC) has finalised the recovery plan.

The amount relates to adjustments in power purchase and revenue costs for 2022-23 and 2023-24. The recovery will apply to non-agricultural consumers through the two state-owned DISCOMs, TGSPDCL and TGNPDCL.

Consumers will pay 30 paise per unit in the first month and 50 paise per unit from the following months. The recovery will be based on electricity use during the two financial years.

The total True-Up amount for both years is ₹7,635.22 crore. Of this, ₹2,214.99 crore relates to the agricultural sector. TGERC said this amount will be paid by the government and will not be recovered from farmers.

The recovery will continue for 29 billing months in the TGSPDCL area and 26 months in the TGNPDCL area.

The extra charge must appear as a separate item on electricity bills, along with details of the calculation.
