Telangana Records Over 5.4 Lakh Voter Deletion Applications

The Election Commission of India (ECI) received 5,43,748 Form-7 applications in Telangana in 2026, seeking the removal of names from voter lists or raising objections to new entries. Of these, 4,71,889 applications were approved, according to a report by Telangana Today on October 14.

The Commission rejected 44,920 applications, while decisions on 26,939 applications were still pending.

Most applications came before the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Between January 1 and June 14, officials received 5,13,375 applications, of which 4,54,413 were approved.

During the ongoing revision, 30,373 applications had been filed as of October 12. Of these, 17,476 were approved, 3,813 were rejected and 9,084 were awaiting decisions.

Hyderabad recorded 1,02,153 applications across both periods, with 93,548 approved.

To limit bulk submissions, the ECI has set a cap of 10 Form-7 applications per person during the claims and objections period. During regular voter list updates, an individual can submit up to five applications a month.

The rules aim to reduce unnecessary objections and ease the workload of election officials.
