The workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL,) on the 24th of September, called for a day long protest against the coal mining Company.
SCCL is owned by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Central Government and is a Public Service Undertaking (PSU.)
According to sources, the SCCL miners of the Bhadradri Kothagudem district are on strike, protesting against the allowance of 100 % Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the coal industry.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) allowed 100 % FDI in the State run coal mining Company.
SCCL coal miners across Telangana went on a day long strike, with several unions participating in the strike. The Telangana Bogu Ghani Karimka Sangham (TBGKS) coal trade union in Singareni also extended its support.
Approximately 28 underground coal mines and 18 open cast coal mines are protesting against the Central Government and the State Government.
The strike started at 6:00 A.M., and will continue till the 6:00 P.M., on the 24th of September.
