The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TS BIE,) on the 17th of September, announced a 30% reduced syllabus for the intermediate course.

According to the TS BIE, for the academic year of 2020-2021, syllabus for commerce and science stream would be reduced by 30 %.

The decision to do so was taken due to the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus, which resulted in the closure of schools and educational institutions.

Since the 24th of March, schools, colleges and educational institutions are closed.

The TS BIE in regard to this even formed expert committees for subjects and based on the suggestions made by the committees, the Board has cut the syllabus.

As per the suggestions, the syllabus for the science stream has been reduced on the lines of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and for other streams, the Board has removed topics and lessons which are not important.

A senior official of the TS BIE said, “In the science streams, the syllabus was reduced as per the changes made by the CBSE and for humanities and other courses, the lessons which are unimportant and do not have any impact on the academics, were removed. Overall, 30 % syllabus has been reduced in each subject in both first and second-year courses.”

Speaking about the circulation regarding the same, a senior official of the TS BIE said, “The proposed changes in the syllabus have been sent to the government and if the same is approved, the TSBIE will issue revised syllabus.”

Currently, the junior colleges and schools are conducting online classes through Doordarshan and T-SAT Network channels.
