Telangana State Government to reach out to NRIs

The Telangana State Government decided to set up two different bodies to reach out the NRIs. One body of the Centre for Non-Resident Telanganites Affairs (CENTA) and the other District Non-Resident Telanganites Affairs (D-CENTA). These bodies will be set at the state level and district level and will handle various welfare measures for the migrants from the state.

NRIs

The minister of NRIs welfare will head CENTA and they will be supported by Chief Executive Officers. D-CENTAs will be headed by district collectors. They will coordinate with the heads from departments such as General Administration (GAD), labor, tourism, industries and information technology and Telangana Overseas Manpower Corporation(TOMCOM).these provisions have been made to make the NRI policy which will be introduced along with the budget session of the assembly.

These organizations will be the think tanks that will work out long-term strategies that will help in increasing the employment for Telanganites in other countries. A senior government official said, “It has been proposed to conduct an annual convention `Pravasi Telangana Divas’ to provide a platform for the NRIs to take part in various development activities in the state.” These steps have been taken after people have been cheated by brokers and other mediators. These district centers will help in maintaining clear communication and also maintain a separate database for each district.
