Telangana to Review Hyderabad Metro-Bus Common Pass Prices

The Telangana government has decided to review the prices of the common travel pass for Hyderabad Metro Rail and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) buses after commuters raised concerns over its high cost.

Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said on Monday that officials would soon meet to discuss the prices. The government is also looking at public feedback and the actual needs of commuters before making a decision.

The common pass was launched on October 2 to let people use one pass for both Metro trains and RTC buses.

At present, the daily pass costs ₹400, including ₹300 for Metro travel and ₹100 for bus services. The monthly pass costs ₹8,500, with ₹7,000 for Metro travel and ₹1,500 for RTC buses.

Several commuters have said the prices are too high and may cost more than buying regular tickets for some journeys.

Ponnam said the government wants to make public transport easier to use and more affordable. Officials will review the current prices and consider changes based on passenger needs.

The government aims to improve the use of Metro and bus services by making travel more convenient for people in Hyderabad.
