India Targets $1 Trillion in Exports by 2047, Says Piyush Goyal

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said India aims to reach $1 trillion in exports as part of its goal to become a developed nation by 2047.

Speaking at the ‘Dilli Dialogue: Policies for a Future-Ready India’ in New Delhi on Monday, Goyal said India could become a major global hub for automobile manufacturing.

He said rising demand at home and a growing manufacturing sector could attract more global carmakers to produce vehicles in India. This could also create more jobs and business opportunities.

Goyal said India is working to connect with global markets through free trade agreements (FTAs). These deals can help Indian businesses reach more customers abroad and gain access to new technology.

He highlighted opportunities in sectors such as textiles, footwear, farming and food processing. He also said growing demand for electronics and household appliances could encourage more investment in local factories and semiconductor plants.

Goyal added that India wants to work with other countries and attract global investment. He said the government has prepared a plan to identify sectors that can support growth in the years ahead.
