India and UK Explore New Partnerships in Space, Nuclear Energy and AI

Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh held talks with UK minister Jonathan Reynolds in New Delhi on Monday, October 12, 2026.

The discussions covered satellite development, space research, small nuclear reactors, healthcare, artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity.

Singh said India’s space-sector reforms have created new opportunities for private companies and startups. He noted that India has around 800 space-tech startups and proposed stronger links between Indian and British startups to support new ideas and business growth.

Both sides also explored cooperation in civil nuclear energy, including small modular reactors and advanced nuclear technologies. These smaller reactors are designed to produce nuclear power on a smaller scale.

The talks also covered the use of nuclear technology in medicine and healthcare, along with research in quantum technology and cybersecurity.

Reynolds welcomed closer ties and stressed the need for regular discussions between institutions and businesses.

The meeting aims to create more opportunities for research, innovation and commercial partnerships between the two countries.
