After Delhi, Jharkhand and Bihar, the South Indian state of Telangana is also gripped by cold wave conditions with the minimum night temperature in outskirt regions.

In many places of the State, the temperature is dropping below 5 degree Celsius, said the State Weather Department.

The Meteorological Department (MET) Office in Hyderabad has attributed the chilly conditions to low level north easterlies prevailing over the north Indian states and other south Indian states.

In addition, minimum temperatures were below the normal by 3 to 5 degrees at many pockets over Telangana.   Notably, Kohir in Sangareddy was the coldest in Telangana with the lowest temperature at 4.6 degrees Celsius.

According to Telangana State Development Planning Society, Sirpur (U) in Klomaram Bheem Asifabad district recorded a minimum temperature of 4.8 degrees, Marpalle in Vikarabad district and Tallapally in Rangareddy recorded 5 degrees.

Furthermore, Mangalpalle in Rangareddy recorded 5.2 degrees Celsius, while it was 5.4 in Bazarhathnoor in Adilabad district, 5.5 in Dongli in Kamareddy, 5.6 in Shivampet (Medak), 5.6 in Nyalka (Sangareddy) and 5.7 in Nallavalli (Sangareddy.)

Concerned about the chilly breeze, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert in Telangana saying the temperature would dip further in the next two to three days, till the 11th of January.
